As business owners, we know how important it is to be cohesive in our branding through and through. This means we have to master the art of visual storytelling! This is not only exclusive to brand logos, palettes, and fonts but also in the way we visually layout our content on our channels, especially on Instagram!
In this blog, we will talk about how to implement consistency on our Instagram feed! If you’re an active brand on Instagram that aims to create an inviting feed to make a HUGE impression at first glance, this is for you!!
Identify Your Ideal Audience
Before you start brainstorming about what to post, identify your ideal client first. To do this, ask yourself these questions:
- Who are they?
- What are they like?
- What are their challenges?
Once you’ve found the answers to those questions, you can now create contents that will serve your ideal client/s! Having an ideal audience in mind will help you create relevant posts that will appeal to the specific group of people you are looking to market to!
Say you’re a wedding photographer who wants to emphasize light and airiness in your photographs; only post images that showcase just that!
This way, you will attract potential clients who actually want the type of service or niche that you specialize in!
Come Up with Content Pillars
With your target audience in mind, come up with at least 3-5 content pillars.
These content pillars should be topics that your brand will constantly discuss, surrounding your niche. Examples of content pillars commonly used by social media marketers are:
- Promotional Content
With content pillars, planning your next content will be so much easier!
You can stay consistent with your brand palette or follow a certain color theme for a period of time!
Say for the summer months, you want to post photos with vibrant colors. You can center your palette around summer colors until the season ends!
This is something that I love doing for my brands, and it is absolutely fun and satisfying!
Your IG feed as a whole should be aesthetically pleasing, especially if you’re a brand that wants to emphasize being a professional creative! This should be reflected on your channels.
One way to have an aesthetically pleasing feed is to come up with a grid layout. This means you’ll have to plan out (in advance) how you want to keep your images in order.
Will you be implementing a certain color theme, following a diagonal line order? Perhaps following an alternating order?
A perfect example of this is the brand Love Offering! their Instagram feed is so satisfying to look at!
Planning the contents you post in advance might seem like work, but it won’t feel like it as you begin doing it! Personally, it is so much fun trying to match images and thumbnails on my feed! It feels like another creative outlet that I get to do!
Now that you know how to keep your feed brand consistent, I hope you will have fun planning your layout as well!
