Wedding themes, color palettes, wedding cakes, bridal fashion, etcetera—what will be buzzing in 2023-2024? Soon-to-be-wed brides and grooms are as excited as we are to hear about predicted trends that can be incorporated into their wedding day! Are you one of them? If so, prepare your notes and jot these trends down so you can have a swoon-worthy wedding in the next years!
Sleeves Over Veils
If we’re touching on wedding trends, we definitely cannot sit this one out. I’m talking about bridal fashion! Sleeves are predicted to be back in the spotlight while veils might be opted out. It’s safe to say that while some vintage fashion trends are back, some traditions are not going to be as popular, maybe at least for a while.
Mock Necks
With famous personalities like Paris Hilton and Meghan Markle donning mock necks for their bridal couture, this classic neckline seems to be back on trend for wedding gowns. Definitely a great choice for those who want to achieve a regal and timeless look for their wedding day.
Sustainable Weddings
With people becoming more aware of the concept of sustainability, more and more couples are now set on making their wedding as eco-friendly as possible. With that said, it’s easy to predict that in the following years, many young couples will choose to lessen their carbon footprint by finding creative ways of incorporating sustainability into their wedding day!
1. Something Old
Of course, when we speak of sustainability, three words often come to mind — reduce, reuse, and UPCYCLE! With that in mind, brides and grooms may want to include an old piece in their look, borrowed from a loved one. This could be an heirloom, the veil your mother used for her wedding day, or even upcycling their old wedding gown! It could be anything!
2. Eco-Friendly Wedding Favors
What’s a wedding without wedding favors? It’s still a wedding but my point is, giving your guests a small token of appreciation has been a tradition for decades! However, most wedding favors tend to be costly with no practical use.
To counter this problem (all the while keeping this tradition intact), many couples are now looking up ideas for having eco-friendly wedding favors for their big day! Here are a couple of great ideas that your guests might appreciate!
- Plantable papers
- Charity Donations
- Seed packets
- Organic tea sets
- Eco-friendly tote bags
- Shampoo bars
- Organic or vegan treats
- Bamboo straws
- Potted herbs
- Natural bath salts
3. Renting Your Wedding Gown
Another way of practicing sustainability for your wedding is to rent your wedding gown rather than purchasing a custom-made or brand-new one. With fashion contributing to billions of waste, many brides are choosing to reduce their waste by having a rental dress! This is definitely something that’s slowly becoming a trend as it is more eco and budget-friendly!
Outdoor Weddings
Many brides dream of having their own outdoor wedding. Understandably so, to have a beautiful landscape as your backdrop for your wedding is definitely something enviable! The thing about having your ceremony (and even reception) outdoors is you can have a huuuge horizon to fill. You can be as intentional as you want. For example, if you want a fall-themed wedding, The Broken Oak at the Mill Pond Estate might be to your liking!
Film Photography
Digital photography has become the default medium for events and weddings. The thing is, film photography has its perks too! Sure, we don’t need a light room to produce digital photos and it takes less time to deliver, but more and more people are appreciating the beauty of film now! I could honestly go on and on about why film photography is amazing, but to make things short, it’s aesthetically beautiful, it’s tangible, requires no post-editing, and it’s timeless! This is a trend that I’m definitely looking forward to the most!
Mismatched bridesmaid look
We’re sure you are going to look stunning on your wedding day, but your bridesmaids deserve to look and feel beautiful too! Humans as we are, we come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. Naturally, there will be wardrobe options that can be more flattering for one but not for others. Needless to say, having one style or silhouette for your bridesmaids’ gowns is going to be history soon! Mismatched gowns are in and we’re loving it!
First Look
The first look is definitely something I love shooting! I simply love capturing that raw, genuine emotion from the subjects that makes every click of my shutter worth it. It’s a memorable moment for the couple and I see why many are opting to include this portion in their wedding timeline!
Fruit-Flavored Cakes
If you love the tangy sweetness of lemon cakes or the tartness of raspberries, you’ll be happy to know that fruit-flavored cakes are on the rise for wedding events in the following years! I’m definitely not complaining. My mouth is already watering just thinking about all those fruity cakes!
Of course, we cannot deny that there might be some influence from the royal influence on this rising popularity. Lemon and elderflower cake was served during the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the duke and duchess of Sussex. This royal event enticed many to replicate the royal couple’s wedding cake following their union. Though if you ask me, lemon and elderflower cake does sound intriguing and delicious.
Shades of Blue
We’re still not over the Bridgerton fever! With blue being a consistent presence in Daphne’s storyline, Bridgerton fans also want to incorporate this color into their own wedding. From soft hues to navy blue, the demand for this color for weddings has risen and is anticipated to continue to do so as the number of fans of the show grows daily.
Bold Purple
Most (if not all) people eagerly await the release of Pantone’s color of the year! 2022 is Veri Peri’s year, a lovely shade of bluish-purple. Of course, this has had an impact on the color palettes of many weddings, which has set a trend for bright purples! We also have to give credit (again) to Bridgerton, whose season 2 heroine Kate Sharma is frequently seen wearing deep purple dresses.
Shades of Green
From lighter shades like sage green to bold jewel tones like deep emerald, it’s hard to deny how green has become a frequent color of choice for many weddings. Not exactly a surprise since green is a pretty versatile color! I’m talking about implementing it in a summer palette or winter. With shades ranging far and wide, it’s hard to go wrong with green!
Wow, what a list! We hope this was an inspiring read for you! We absolutely cannot wait to see these trends incorporated into your very own wedding day! If you got your own predictions, let us know in the commen
